Can miscarriages run in the family?

I really don't want to seem stupid but I'm curious. My mother had 2 miscarriages,my fathers mother had about 2 miscarriages,my mothers mother had miscarriages and a still born and my oldest cousin miscarried her first baby. My other cousin is pregnant with her first at 26wks! I'm just worried that it could run in the family. I know there's really no truth to this but I don't know how I would handle it if it happened!!

It depends on the cause for the miscarriages. Things like a hormone imbalance or blood clotting disorder could be inherited, but most miscarriages happen because of random genetic abnormalities in the embryo or fetus that mean it can't survive. Also things like smoking and drinking alcohol or a lot of caffeine can increase the risk of miscarriage.

Yes. My mum had a sb and a mc. My sis had mc. Both blamed on a shared blood condition they have. I didn't inherit it but we're not sure if it's maternal or paternal carried or blood type reliant etc but a cousin we just met on my mums dad side has also had a mc and needed blood thinner injections like my sister.

Honestly, I come from an Irish family. My mother has 5 sister. All of which had healthy pregnancies and children .. Besides one. My aunt had multiple losses to the point she just considered herself barren and stopped trying. My grandmother had one stillborn son. Other than that no one in my family has suffered a loss thank god (while they were young and healthy) that they have discussed. I have just the one aunt with no children (but she is an aunt to many and happy). So idk how miscarriages work  in family trees but I do know even a fertile family can have some.

1/4 women have miscarriages so to say miscarriages run in families isn't exactly accurate. Genetic conditions that cause miscarriage can run in families. Like uterine malformations and thyroid disorders. Both of which I have and both of which have caused my miscarriages. Miscarriages can be caused for a ton of reasons. Many of which have nothing to do with genetics.

Talk your your doctor with as much medical history as you can get.  I imagine it is possible if the reason for the miscarriage is like an odd shaped uterus, but I do not know.
