Okay so I’m about 14 weeks and want to lay on my back soooo bad. But I read somewhere that laying on your back is not the best idea. Can laying on my back affect the baby?

My doctor said I don’t need to worry until I am uncomfortable . I am very big and I am 27 weeks and still lay on my back half the time and constantly wake up on my back💛 only reason I even sleep on my side is because it helps my pelvic issues or i wouldn’t be ☺️ my obgyn said baby would let me know when I can’t sleep that way anymore

Lay however make you comfortable the baby is still small at this point no harm will be done

Yeah but generally when your much bigger, you can put a pillow behind your back though to support you!

They say it’s bad because there’s a main vein that pumps blood flow . I slept on my back for a little while until I was uncomfortable I can’t sleep on my back because I can’t breathe and feel like there’s a rock on top of me lol I have shortness of breath . But many women sleep on there back and some don’t because the so called vena cava that transfers blood flow to your baby as I’ve read . But like I said how ever you feel comfortable sleeping don’t worry so much .

some people say not after 20 weeks, others say not during 3rd trimester. I lay on my back on the couch but I'm constantly moving. I try not to sleep on my back, but I can't always control that when I'm sleeping. I'd say do it but try not to stay there for extended periods

My midwife said your body will tell you when you shouldn’t be on your back, she said you will start to feel sick and dizzy. If that does happen, you cal elevate one butt cheek with a pillow just a couple inches and the dizziness and whatnot will go away since the pressure is off of the nerve. If you feel fine, go ahead and lay on your back. Hope this helps.
