What’s the difference between std and sti ??

I’m not the brightest crayon in the box so 😭 do they have different symptoms? Plz someone explain

sti: sexually transmitted infection 
They are both synonymous so they are both usually used to mean the same thing.

I thought people started using STI because it soinds less scary than STD (disease!) but i found this👇

Stds are like aids hiv and herpes.
Stis are like yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis and stuff like that. 
Stds are MOSTLY permanent because they are a disease some aren't, but MOST stis can be cured because of most stis arent a disease. 
Basically the same thing just some of them you can't get rid of.
