Ever since I told my mom I had a std, she been throwing shade smh especially at the doctors appointments so therefore I feel so ashamed, dirty infectious person 😔 somebody plz make me feel better

I’m gonna be frank, I’d do the same with my kids. Seriously. I’d want them to feel shame and disgusted with the careless actions that they may have taken to put themselves in that situation so that they don’t repeat that behavior. I say tough love is the best love.

I am sorry your mom is treating you like that. Protection doesn't prevent STDs 100%. The people on here are being kind of rude considering over 1/4 of people will get a std in their lifetime. Some people also get them from cheating partners. Just know they are very common and easy to catch like the flu. Be careful who you have sex with. Make sure they're clean and use protection.

I feel like people assume when you have an std you’re just being stupid and sleeping with everyone, which that is what happens in most cases but a close friend of mine got it from her husband who was cheating on her, and of course she was having unprotected sex with him. regardless of the situation, what happened already happened so the best thing is to be proactive and take care of yourself now. she shouldn’t be shaming you your mom should be a supporter

You made a mistake by having unprotected sex, (or without seeing a doctors note that they are STD free). But I don’t think your mother should be judging you for this. Your parents should be helping you. Having an STD is already hard as it is and I doubt your mother making passive aggressive comments makes it any easier. I recommend you talk to her in private and let her know how all of this makes you feel and how right now you need her support-not her judgement. Best of luck to you, sis.
