When does 3rd trimester begin??

Okay do you class the beginning of 27 weeks as 3rd trimester or beginning of 28 weeks? Have conflicting answers everywhere I look! I’m 27 weeks Sunday and was so confused about this with my last pregnancy too haha just trying to clarify when I’ll be in my 3rd trimester! 💕

No freaking clue.. two of the apps I have welcomed me in to the third trimester at 26 weeks but I thought 28 weeks. SO CONFUSED.

I brought this chart to my doc and she likes it. She said that the third trimester starts sometime in the middle of week 27, so most round up to 28 weeks as the start of the third trimester.

My Dr said 26 weeks. A lot of charts say 27 weeks and then a lot of apps say 28 weeks. So I'm taking the middle and going by 27 weeks!

I just did the math out to estimate since everything out there is so different! 40wks/3 trimesters = 13.33 wks per trimester. So that would put you at 26.66wks so roughly 27wks when it starts... if that makes sense 😂

I’ve read there’s no general consensus. Some people say it starts at the beginning of week 26, 27, 28, or 29!  I go by the start of week 27, so you can pick one I think :)

Thanks everyone! It’s so confusing haha like pick a week and stick to it! That’s okay just means I’ll be entering into my 3rd trimester on Sunday! Cannot get over how fast this pregnancy has gone! First time round I was counting down the days hurrying it here and it went forever. This time with my little 2.5year old little girl trying to treasure all the time we have just us two together and it’s flying by! Funny how it all works!!
