What do you consider vanilla? (Bedroom terms)

My husband and I were talking the other day and while I feel I’m pretty “vanilla” he laughed and said “no you aren’t.”
So I’m curious what do you think vanilla means?
*also I’m not concerned about our sex life and we don’t label it, it was a random conversation, both happily satisfied*

Vanilla to me is just “plain”. Missionary to me is vanilla. Always doing the same stuff. Spice it up... try different positions, toys, etc.

I guess it does depend on everyones definition of vanilla. I've never thought of any sex being vanilla because I always enjoy sex if it's with the person I care about. That being said, I love doing kinky shit. I like dirty talk, slapping, tying up, sometimes anal, rough shit. But I also like gentle sex and I do like missionary. It would suck to always have sex in the same position with no other form of exitement though.

For me I guess “vanilla” means sex that doesn’t involve any extra items (toys, bondage stuff). Stuff that’s not considered “kinky.” My bf and I don’t really talk about sex in those terms though. We just do stuff we enjoy together.
