Are these real contractions?

I am having cramping and back pain with on and off tightness in my bump. I are these real contractions? It's not very painful just a little. I think I have been having plenty of Braxton hicks. Those had zero pain, only tightness. Any insight?

That's how I felt all day, from morning until around 6:30pm when it became much more clear that these were real contractions because they were happening regularly. It doesn't hurt to start timing your on-agains just to see what happens... The more closely you are paying attention, the clearer it'll be to you whether things are progressing or not. Good luck!! How far along are you?

Got monitored at L&D. Contractions were 5 mins apart but not progressing. They said it was due to dehydration. Sent me home.

Could be. I've personally found that my Braxton Hicks contractions have become more painful as I near the end (from about 36 weeks on), but they don't tend to manifest (for me) in my back. If you're experiencing these symptoms on a reasonably regular basis (every x number of minutes or so) maybe call L&D or your doc/midwife and see what they say. Either way, it doesn't sound like you need to race off to the hospital right this minute, but be mindful of your symptoms and don't be afraid to ask your caregivers questions, especially if things change or are alarming. The back pain is constant. I haven't had any the entire pregnancy. Then the belly tightness is coming on and off. Is that what I am counting? I also feel pressure down low. Being a FTM I have no clue what this is all going to be like or what it means.

I'd call your doctor and ask them. I've had one BH contraction my doc told me if they become painful or if I have 4 or more in an hour to call. If you call you could get an idea of how many in an hour you should worry about. Good luck!
