Nitrous Oxide?

Question

Did any of you mommas have access and take advantage of nitrous oxide for pain management in labor? I have not given birth yet but my hospital offers nitrous and I am considering it! Just would love to hear about your experiences with it as all I find when I Google is research/stats on it not actual experiences from moms.

I just gave birth this morning!! 👏👏👏 Baby born at 41 weeks! I only used nitrous and loved it!!! It helped me SOOO much.

I used it during labor.
I was on pitocin and used it for 2 hours until the pain was way too much.
If I hadn’t had pitocin I think it would have been enough, but I was asking for the epidural after 2 hours active labor

That was the only thing i got and only thing id let myself get but i remember the nurse askig me if it was working and i was like no. And she said ya its more of a mental thing. I used jt while watching my contractions cuz u gotta put it on 30 seconds prior and then i used oxygen wen i was off it. 
But watching my contractions helped me prepare my breathing.

Is used in the Uk! Commonly called entonox! I have used it with all 3 of my pregnancies!

I gave birth less than a month ago and had planned to use this as my only pain relief in labor but unfortunately it didn’t work out that way. I used it for only three contractions before they took it away because it was causing my son’s heart rate to drop and he continued to have his heart rate closely monitored the rest of my 17 hours of labor because of it. I was very close to having an emergency cesarean. My birth story is kind of Murphy’s law in practice, so that doesn’t necessarily mean anything but I wish someone had told me that it could have that effect before I chose the gas.

It's supposed to be for comfort, just to help relax you, it's not a pain management, I was given it to help calm me down and then eventually was given an epidural as well for the pain

It did nothing for me, only made my throat sore and uncomfortable. But my boyfriend liked it 🙈

I just gave birth and tried it.  However, I used it as I went from 5cm to 9cm in about 15 minutes so the nitrous was pretty ineffective.
