How soon can you take a bath after vaginal delivery?

I’m a huge bath person and I’m 4weeks postpartum. No tears or complications during birth. But at the hospital the nurse told me wait 6 weeks to take a bath. But my stomach is killing me tonight from something I ate, and I’m dying to take a bath to feel better. I feel like 6 weeks is ridiculous to wait?

You need time for your undercarriage to heal.  You risk infection if it’s not properly healed. Wait until your OB clears you at 6 weeks.

My nurses said to wait two weeks and when my midwives found out about that they were pretty mad. They strongly recommended me taking sitz baths right away to help. Im 3 weeks pp now and i take one every other day and im fine.

I'm a labor and delivery nurse. We let our patients take a bath the first time getting up after delivery. If you have stitches keep it to a 30 minute minimum but they allow you to do that three times a day.

Weird. They told me to take warm baths to help with pain from vaginal delivery and minor tearing. As soon as I was released from hospital.

That is very weird, they wanted to bathe me the second night I was in the hospital. But I waited till I got home and just got told to be doing the sanitary steps they gave me and not using soap to wash my self down there

I had a giant tub in my hospital room and before and after delivery they told me feel free to use it.

My midwives had an herbal bath ready for me as soon as I was done with my golden hour post-labor.  
They did suggest that if I were going to have a bath later, I should probably have the tub cleaned the tub really well beforehand because....well, germs. But they didn't tell me I couldn't.

i had an episiotomy and they told me to take epsom salt baths until my stitches dissolved
