Contractions?

Question

Do contractions start off as a period cramp feeling? Or that feeling you get when you have to go #2 reallt badly? I've heard these are both possibilities but I wanted to ask!

I went into false labor at 24 weeks. Basically it was for 8 hours. In the morning I felt cramping. I drank a bunch of water. It didn't stop. Then my stomach started tightening up. I was like maybe Braxton hicks? They got to 5 mins apart (you have to time any contractions you have) & I went to the hospital. They did nothing but put me on bed rest for 6 more hours... They monitored me & didn't even check on me for 6 hours... By the time they came in to actually see if I was in labor. They were 2 minutes apart & then started fading out to 3 & then 5 & then 10.. They sent me home & I was on bed rest for two weeks.... they didn't even do anything to me...

Well if they start off as period like cramps I would like to know because I've had a lot of those! Especially in the lower back and I'm 35+1.

I never felt like I had to poop. But omg I felt like I had the worst period cramps from hell. Lol. You definitely know when it's starting bc you will slowly feel the cramp(contraction) coming and it hits hard then goes away. Then will repeat.
