What do you think about promise rings?

My boyfriend got me a promise ring! And while I love it! I wonder if this is a way of him getting out of the real deal for a while. Seeking your opinions on this 😊

Pointless and childish. When I think of a promise ring I think of teens who just want their relationship to be taken be seriously. So they buy a promise ring to show their “commitment”. It’s not transitional in any way. It’s just a ring.

my husband got me a promise ring about 4 months before he proposed with an engagemnet ring. I think all jewelry is romantic lol.

I like it :) An engagement ring is just a promise ring lol it doesnt mean anything more than "I intend to marry you". So a promise ring is a cute way to say something, whatever it means to yourrelationship. Glad it's going well!

I think theyre mostly for teenagers. Since they are still young and live with their parents and have a lot to take care of before they move forward

My bf and I both have promise rings. He got me mine after 7 months and I got him his own after 9 months. Everyone says they are childish etc but I disagree. I do think it's a ring before the engagement ring. My bf and I have been together for over 2.5 years it will be 3 years in July and we are getting engaged in 2 years.

Seems like a waste of money and doesn't really "mean" anything. I agree that it's mostly for teenagers who are wasting their/their parent's money. Save that money for the real thing and show committment towards each other everyday. I'm sure they are cute and it's nice to receive jewelry and if they know you want one, then great. But I don't think it makes the relationship more serious and there are probably more enjoyable things to spend money on.
