Flat ironing 3yr old hair

I was wondering, if anyone here ever flat ironed a toddlers hair. My daughter hair is very curly, and hard to style if its not wet, so I was thinking maybe it'll be more manageable if I flat ironed it, not on a daily basis or anything, more like once a month. I have some really expensive flat irons, that go up to 450 degrees, but I'm sure that would be too much heat, but I can always lower the temperature.
