Weird bumps on my face

Has anyone else had weird bumps (almost like acne, but not quite) show up in a patch on their face. They are large and there is a group of at least 4 of them. They are near my ear and hard for me to get a good look at. My husband isn't much help. He said they don't look like zits, but doesn't have any other input for me. I tried to take pictures but it didn't work. They hurt too... And my ear on that side is hurting as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
