Am I a Bad Person?

I'm having a hard time with the fact that for the time we have been dating he hasn't given me a Birthday gift. When its his birthday he always recieves even if its little something from me. I dont want to sound like a greedy person but im upset and dont want to hurt his feelings. He says its a money issue but we split everything. I had to save for months for his gift, and i dont even get a card. Its not like he doesn't even know when my birthday is. He even went so far as to pretend to dig for a gift this year only to pull back laughing and give me a kiss instead. Is there something wrong with wanting a present from your spouse? Do you recommend anything?
