is wearing a lucky cat shirt cultural appropriation? i really enjoy learning aboutJapanese/chinese culture and fashion. i want to wear a lucky cat shirt, but is that cultural appropriation? are there ways i can incorporate their fashion without upsetting anyone?

Cultural appropriation isn’t a thing. Everything comes from one culture or another. And cultures were meant to be shared; no one possesses ownership. A lot of people make money off of selling aspects of their culture ie. women braiding hair for $.

The use of this term has become out of control and the majority of people have no idea what cultural appropriation really means. Wear the shirt.

Not at all. To restrict one type of clothing for (insert race) and deny a certain type of clothing or style to another race is a pretty stupid idea in today’s culture. If you are really interested in this ‘lucky cat shirt’ then wear it.

I don't believe in Cultural appropriation in the general sense (I think you can respect other cultures and still gather inspiration from them). If I did, though, I think that what you're doing would be it, since you're taking something that's unique to that culture for yourself. I guess although I disagree with the term "cultural appropriation," by definition, you would be appropriating. Hope that makes sense.
