Depo shot—gain weight?

Question

Does anyone who currently or has in the past taken birth control in the form of the depo shot realize a weight gain or significant side effects?

I took the depo and went from the size 4 I worked my ass off for to a size 14 in a short amount of time...
Now I can’t lose the weight no matter what I do... 
it’s super discouraging and one of my biggest regrets in life

I gained wait. felt like I was never full and gained 10 pounds on my first and only shot.   I had an increase of atm and let hair and cramps were hell.   I also got a period for 43 days straight. lots of bloating.  boobs grew and I was miserable I had crazy mood swings... it messed up my body to the point where I was misdiagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease because it was so much pain.  I ended up getting off of it and switching to the nuva ring instead and it's been a month and it's been pretty good so far

I’ve been on the depo for 4-5 months now. I actually lost weight, then I wanted to eat 24/7 so I’ve gained probably 5 pounds. Nothing real noticeable tho! My nurse told me anytime i stress out it will cause me to spot a little bit. Here lately I’ve been super stressed about work and stuff so I’ve been spotting.
