Eating enough??? 🍼

Question

So I give my LO a 4oz of breastmilk and half the time he still searches for more. So after the bottle I will sometimes let him latch. Is it okay for a one month old to be eating more than 4oz?

Are you paced feeding? That’s a lot for a newborn. You wanna avoid stretching his tummy and appetite or else your supply won’t be able to keep up. Not saying to let him go hungry....if he’s unconsolable then feed him. But usually after pace feeding and a good burp they’re content. 
My daughter was 12 months old and drank 4.5 oz a feeding. Their amounts don’t steadily increase like formula babies. At 4 weeks she was drinking 2oz of breastmilk every 3 hours.

I would ask your Dr or a breastfeeding expert in your area. I wasn’t sure how much to pump for my guy so I went on Kellymom website and it has great info! It recommends to divide your number of feeds in 24 hrs by 25 oz to break down how much at each feed. It says (most) babies age 1-6 mos eat around 19-30 oz in 24 hrs. Of course it varies each feed and if baby is going through a growth spurt.

you feed baby till baby's full, it doesn't matter if he/she is eating 10 oz at a time lol, as long as theyre full. full baby= happy baby

My baby is 5wks and has been eating 4-5 oz sine he was 3 wks old. Sometimes he’ll eat a little less like say 3oz. I don’t think you have anything to worry about as long as your baby’s healthy. I always see people on here saying that you can’t overfeed a breastfed baby. My friends baby is 3 mos and she eats about 7oz per feeding. Every baby is different and will eat a little differently.
