My mom is very conservative & she flipped when I asked to get on birth control. I’m 17 (18 in 6 months) & I’m sexually active with my bf but she doesn’t know that. She only knows I’m not a virgin. Our only method of protection is condoms but we recently had a pregnancy scare since the condom ripped (I took a morning after pill after). Still, it serves as proof that condoms are not effective enough for me since I don’t plan on getting pregnant anytime soon until I finish college hopefully. I want the iud since it seems to be most effective & I’m bad at remembering to take things at a certain time. My mom can’t find out I’m looking to get on birth control because she “slut shames” me. She says I’ll end up pregnant like my cousin buuut that’s the whole point of wanting to get on birth control so that I DON’T get pregnant. Which iud is better? Also, without insurance, how much does it cost?
