Hey guys,

So I was on the mini pill for probably 2 weeks, and I just decided to switch to the shot. I got my period Sunday night, so I’m not sure I can count that as day 1 of my cycle or if I can count Monday as day one. Either way, I got my first shot today on day 5 or 6 of my period, the nurse was unsure about how long I should use a back up method of protection for, she initially said 3-4 weeks, then asked another nurse who said 2-3 weeks. When I looked up info online it said the shot is effective within 24 hours when you get it within the first 5-7 days of your period, but if not it is effective after a week.

I’m so confused, anyone have any insight?! We just really hate using condoms. 😬
