Difference between getting your hair dyed and color correction?

What’s the difference between getting color in your hair and color correction?
My hair is dark brown with subtle blonde highlights in it and I want to get it dyed burgundy at the salon. Would I have to make an appointment for color or color correction?

If you’re going from one colour to a completely different colour it’s considered a colour correction x

If you want to just go 1 solid Color it’s not a color correction a color correction is considered you saying that you would like to be all blonde or a lighter shade of color then you have right now that’s considered a color correction ..just remember color doesn’t lift color that’s why you see people walking around all the time with superlight roots that’s called HOT ROOTS and dark on the mid shaft two ends you ..Hopefully this was helpful 😉

You will be getting it dyed. 
Colour correction is for example if you home bleached your hair and it went green... you would get that corrected in a salon.
