am i being too harsh or not enough?

my abuser is part of my family,  and though no one else in my generation in the family has come forward about anything happening,  i dont want him around my child or for him to be legally acknowledged as her great-grandfather.  I dont ever want him to even be in the same room as my baby.  how do i do this without making the whole family awkward?  they dont know about anything he's done to me.

Do whatever is necessary to protect your child.
Anyone who supported my abuser in *any way* got cut out of my life. I could care less about awkwardness and what comes along with that. Anyone who continues to have him in their life, is not a part of mine.

My daughter will never meet my abuser, never ever ever. We’ve turned down trips up to their cabin simply because I don’t want to put her in a situation where there’s the potential to be harmed. 
May suck because I don’t get to see my family members very often, but her safety is worth it.

The way they feel is irrelevant to you protecting your child from the same violations that happened to you as a child. If that means making everyone uncomfortable then so be it. I don’t see a problem with that. The only problem I see is your family putting an abusers feelings over the protection of a child.
