Is it a reasonable request for my in-laws to stay at a hotel if they visit soon after baby is born?

My in laws live 8 hours away - but my MIL is a pain in the ass. I don’t want to feel like I have to be tip toeing around in my own house OR be suffocated by them always being around. 
My reasoning why this is fair is because my mother and our friends/guests who come to visit the baby are NOT spending the night. They will visit briefly and leave. I’m sorry but just because his parents live far away does not mean they have to be around 24/7 when they visit. I just cant handle that.

My inlaws and my family live 30 hours from us... my mil tried to say they wanted to come stay with us for 2 weeks a week after my due date 😳 I told my husband the fuck they will! Hell no am I dealing with that shit after just having a baby or possibly still being super pregnant... no just no. I told him we won’t be going to do anything or doing fireworks and shit for the Fourth of July so why are they coming? We will be in a new city/home and I’m not going to be out exploring with my newborn. I told him he needs to tell them they can wait til August to come visit. That way they don’t interfere with his time off with baby, I’ll be recovered (hopefully) by then, our 3 year old will be accustomed to her brother and we will have established my milk supply and a good routine. If they try to come any sooner I will literally take my babies and live in my bedroom without coming out til they leave

I might not even tell my in laws I’m in labor until after the fact.... and they live in town. 
Not to be spiteful or rude but because they stress me out! And I’d rather not have the added stress of them being there.
So I think its totally reasonable to ask them to stay at a hotel. Plus it will give you the ability to have alone time to bond with baby

My mother in law is trying to hop a plane from Florida to New Jersey as soon as I go into labor. 
My response: HELL FUCKING NO!
Last time she was here we almost got the cops called on us for fighting in the front yard because I didn’t want to fight in front of my stepson. She’s a witch who’s taking out her feelings about my stepsons mother on me. 
When she does come up, which hopefully won’t be until at least a week after, she will be staying in a hotel and will not be hanging around my house all day. My boyfriend works over nights and will be trying to get some sleep while I’ll be still trying to learn my baby and I can not be responsible for trying to entertain her as well. 
She’s also trying to dictate when my stepson will be at the house because “he better be there all the days that I’m visiting.” We have a court dictated visitation schedule that, while we have some wiggle room on, we like to keep. Besides the fact that his mom already offered to keep him a few of our days so that we could get adjusted.

yes it is reasonable. you need to heal, and to adjust to a new baby. There's so much that will be going on, you don't need the added stress.
I'm just imagining my own mother wanting to come over every fricken day! its not happening! 
I'm having family members come meet baby on a "schedule" as in I don't want everyone here at the same time. 
Grand parents will be first to come meet baby, in laws will probably have our daughter. Everyone else I'll tell them to ask when they can come. I don't want a house full of people, I want it to be relaxed and calm, and actually able to talk to everyone.

My MIL and her sister are coming from out of state. I made it clear to my husband that there /will literally be no room for them here, since the extra room is now a nursery. They would have to sleep on an air mattress in the living room, and they both have health problems. Not to mention my MIL is a heavy smoker. The first few weeks is not the time for them to be here. When they want to visit, they can stay in a hotel. I’m very blessed to have my best friend as my husband, and he agrees and supports my decision 100%. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want time with your new baby without someone telling you what you need to do or how you need to do things. Or even just being in the way.

Thankfully my in-laws don’t plan on visiting until a month after he’s born. They will stay with us, but I will do/say what I want when I want 🤷🏻‍♀️
They know me pretty well though so they know what to expect with me lol

You will feel weird and icky and possibly be trying to figure out breastfeeding, which means a whole lotta boobs out. The learning curve is so high with babies and having that stress of just having another person in the house 24/7, especially one that annoys you at the best of times, is horrible. It might be inconvenient for them, but for the safety of your relationship with them, it's the better idea.

My mother keeps saying she wants to stay the night after the baby is born to help and I’m about to have to tell her no. My fiancé will NOT have anyone staying in our home and I don’t want it either. I’m a little more gentle about telling people things though so I have to tell her before he does 🙈 my mom only lives 30 minutes away and I’m just gonna tell her we want privacy and don’t want anyone staying the night.
