What was your trick???

Question

How did you get your baby to sleep though the night? Mine is 5 months 3 weeks and he still wakes up a few times at night.

Like Nicole said, dont put so much pressure on a specific set amount of hours. It will literally drive you mad!
My son is 2 and a half and my daughter is nearly 5 months. 
My son was never a great sleeper- talking like up every 30 minutes to an hour. We are just now getting to sleep through the night. 
My daughter- slept great as a newborn, went through terrible colic for 2 and a half months, now shes sleeping through the night. 
I didnt do anything special or have some grand secret. I only have advice:
1. Create a bedtime routine and stick with it every night. Our household isnt run a strict schedule, rather a routine when the night is winding down. I look for the cues that my kids are beginning to settle down for the night and began our bedtime routine. 
2. SLEEP WHEN YOU CAN! 
3. Let go of trying to get baby to sleep for the entire night and go with the flow!

my son didn't sleep through til 7 months. it takes a while for their brains to develop enough that they have sleep cycles like an adult. so all I can say is patience and consistency were what got us there.

We did the cry it out method. My LO sleeps like a champ now. It was miserable for like two nights,  but after that he would not need to be rocked to sleep.  I still rock him to get him drowsy,  but I lay him down awake. My LO had reflux and really bad gas issues,  so when he would wake up we would give him gas drops and a pacifier and he'd go right back to sleep.
