Flat feet? Tip toes when standing?

Eileen

Anyone else’s baby? Vi turned 8 months on the 2nd and is very interested in standing, but almost always does it while tip toeing. Ideas on how to encourage her to be flat footed? Her daddy has flat feet and she doesn’t have an arch to her feet. Does this come later? Could it be the reason why she stands on her tip toes? My other friends say their babies never stood on their tip toes until after they learned how to stand and walk. Im going to talk to her pediatrician at her 9 month appointment if I can’t figure it out by then. Pictures for attention and to show off her flat feet, unfortunately you can’t see her tip toeing while standing because her pjs are too long. 😩

Arches don’t usually develop until age 2-3. I wouldn’t be too worried yet.

Really? That’s wonderful news! Thank you! I have been nervous about this for a while. When I did a hand print/foot print picture and the one that they had as the sample was beautifully arched and when I did my daughter’s it was completely flat.

My son is almost 8 months, loves to pull up and stand up and is always on his tippy toes. The more he’s figured out standing up and starting to shuffle along the couch I’ve noticed that he’ll put his feet down flat. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them doing that.

my son stands up and then gets on his tip toes to reach things. I think it's just a learning thing. I wouldn't worry 💙

So my son isn’t standing on his own or anything. But when I help him he tip toes, and when he takes a few step he tip toes. I was suggested to get these old school walking shoes. I guess they have a hard bottom to keep babies feet straight instead of tip toeing. 🙂

Thank you so much! I’ll be buying those if her Ped is worried about it at her appointment in a few weeks!
