Pumping schedule
I have an over supply of milk and am sending 30-40 oz to the freezer every week. I’m wondering if I should alter my pumping schedule to not create so much extra, but then I wonder if it will kill my supply for the weekends when I don’t give bottles. I’d like some advice.
Here is her schedule:
Overnight: eat on demand (usually around 2:30)
5:30 AM: breast
8:00 AM: 4oz bottle
10:30 AM: 4 oz bottle
1:00 PM: 4 oz bottle
3:30 PM: 4 oz bottle
6:00 PM: breast
8:30 PM: breast
10:00 PM: breast dream feed
My pumping schedule and usual amounts:
5:30 AM: Haaka on non-feeding boob (4oz)
8:00 AM: pump (10oz)
10:30 AM: pump (4oz)
12:30 PM: pump (3oz)
2:30 PM: pump (3oz)
I know they recommend pumping when the baby eats but these times work better for my work schedule. Also, I pump 4 times because she eats 4 bottles. I use the Haaka because I will get 14-16oz at the 8:30 pump without it and I’m in pain and generally leak if I don’t.
Do I drop a pumping session and spread them out more? Or do I continue to pump way more than my baby eats? If I drop the pump will I loose the ability to breastfeed during the day on the weekends?
