When is a good age to leave them!

Question

I’m curious to know as a first time mama, when you all felt comfortable leaving your little ones behind for a trip. My hubby and I were invited on a cruise. My dad would be staying with our little guy full time if we went. It’s a whole week!!!! Gaaaahhh! He’ll be 19 months old. Any thoughts? Advice? I’m a little clueless, and it’s probably me that’s not ready to leave him. Hahaha!

My parents went away for a week together about once a year when i was growing up.  We stayed with my aunts, family friends and eventually when we were older, a babysitter.  We never felt abandoned; and we knew my parents loved each other and had a very solid foundation.  And my mom was a SAHM for most of my childhood.  It is good to allow kids to create strong relationships with their family, and to learn a little independence, that they can be ok when Mom isn’t present 100% of the time.

I don’t think I will ever leave my kids to go on a week trip to be honest. But he is old enough as long as your dad is comfortable.

We sometimes get so focused on making sure our kids are safe (as we should) that we miss out on filling our own cups do to this guilt society has placed on us. I have 6 kids one on the way and sorry not sorry if given an opportunity to go on a cruise for a week I would hop on the opportunity especially if family is offering to stay with them. I live miles away from my mom and dad and even when I lived close, I'd barely get asked if she'd keep her grands overnight nor did I ask. I'd give anything to have that type of support. My fiance and I both work fulltime, but we also find time to rekindle the relationship by going out on date nights without the kids. It's also just as important.

We did our first overnight at five months. But it was just one night. 
You just have to do what your comfortable with. A week is tough.
