I am 38 weeks today and had an appointment yesterday. No dilation and baby girl is still very high. My doctor says at my next appointment in one week they will scrape my membranes or cervix to jump start labor. Essentially he will take his finger and just loosen the membrane around the cervix. It’s supposed to release hormones that tells the baby to come out. Or sometimes it can actually break your water. They will only do this if I’m still not progressing. I’m sooo scared, we are in the middle moving to our new house and I’m scared if he does it right before the move I will go into labor and be stuck in the middle between or old home and the new one. Not just that, but I’m wondering if it hurts, and how quick are we talking about jump starting labor? I’ve heard it’s much better to start labor naturally instead of having to be induced, but I just wish I had more options. Anyone ever have this done? And if so, did it hurt? And how quick did your start going into labor/deliver? TIA!
