I'll explain whenever they ask. How much detail I give depends on how old they are.

My twins are 9 and my youngest is 5.  I got pregnant again last fall, baby is due in June.  The older girls were asking a lot of questions, so I told them what sex was.  I decided to include the 5 year old because I wanted her to hear it from me and not from her sisters telling her.  It was very basic, and luckily not very awkward.  That was a few months ago, and every now and then they'll ask me a random question.  I'm really glad I just told them and got it over with, because I hope it will just seem like a naturally comfortable topic as they get older, and they'll be able to talk to me about birth control or if they're ready or not.

I hope my kid isn't like me and never talks about sex with me. My parents always made it such a no no lol. Meanwhile I knew what sex was or had an idea of it at 8 years old because of course other kids and older kids talk. I really wish society would normalize this discussion instead of demonizing it.

I’m happy to answer any and all questions whenever our daughter asks. I don’t feel that there’s a certain age you sit down and have that talk. I want it to always be an open conversation at all ages.

The 11 year old boy started asking questions so we had a "lesson" with him. Well then my 4 year old decided to ask so we gave him a dumbed down version. I'm pregnant with their little sibling, I dont want them thinking the stork is bringing the baby. 🤷🏼‍♀️
