I was told by my doctor that he would refer me, he said our option will probably have to be

. I have just recieved a letter through the post to see a gynaecology consultant, im not sure why but i assumed that he would just send me streigh to an

clinic? can someone please advise??

2 things: some gyne obs are specialized in fertility so maybe it’s fine. Or maybe they will start the process to make sure you’re not missing anything before they send you to the real fertility clinic.
I would go and see what they say (hopefully it’s not long) - depending on where you live things may work differently

Some clinics require referral from gyn. In ontario, even though you can pay privately for services you still have to have initial referral from a gyn or family physician.

If you’re going through insurance, I guess you have to be referred? I just scheduled my own appointment to a fertility specialist since it had been 3 years of TTC with no baby. 
If your insurance doesn’t cover any fertility services, you’re best bet is to go ahead and schedule your own consult with a specialist. And, a GYN is not a specialist.
