Best ways to stop your LO’s being naughty ?!?

Share what is most affective to stop your LO doing things they shouldn’t do. 
For me just saying NO Or shouting or even taking my son away doesn’t do anything he goes back and continues whatever he was doing 
I’m a first time mum so I need help with this one

At this age, they are really starting to test their boundaries. I think that redirection works but also I try my best to let her know that something is not ok to do without yelling. Its not always easy, and it doesn't always work but I try 🤷‍♀️

We find distraction works better. Instead of being yelled at for pushing buttons on the receiver, let momma chase you around and throw pillows at you! He usually settles down with a toy afterward.

depending on what she's doing, we do a sort of time out. when she pinches or hits me (in a mean way), I remove myself and ignore her for about a minute. I'll sit up on the couch and look the other direction. when it's over, I tell her "pinching/hitting hurts" and move on before she thinks to test if I'll have the same reaction twice. if she's doing something unsafe like throwing herself backwards off the couch or climbing her little chair, she/the item get removed for a while. probably until after the next meal is a good time to try again.         other things like lately she's experimenting with the trash can (😑) I just have to repeat myself a million times "we don't play with the trash can" and "put it down and walk away" (sometimes I sing it like a Daniel tiger song)  and redirect with something distracting like bouncing/tossing a ball up and down. or bubbles! she just doesn't fully know her boundaries and expectations yet. it's definitely frustrating some days (especially being pregnant again) but I just take a deep breath and remind myself exactly how much she doesn't know and understand yet. they'll get there eventually, right? 🤞

Mostly we distract/redirect but the other day he meanly pulled daddy’s beaters out of frustration and that earned him a 15 second time out on the cough with momma. He cried. Afterward we did lots of hugs and talked about what happened. Probably he didn’t understand but I’m a big believer in just start Small and they’ll get it somewhere along the way.
