Could I be infertile?

I've had my period for 6 years now, and not once have I had a consistent period. Part of this was due to an eating disorder that stopped my period altogether, but I'm eating regularly and have been for a couple years. I'll have a seemingly normal period and not have another for 3 months. I also started my period when I was 9? I think something's weird. Because most people I know have a schedule and normal period. Even my little sister!

Depending on the severity of your eating disorder that can affect your fertility. Your hypothalamus needs certain hormones to start LH/FSH which matures the egg. If your ED was serious enough to stop your period for periods of time, it is definitely a possibility that it has impacted fertility. Good news is that it's often easy to correct medically. Women that are infertile because of that will often have completely normal periods. Just because your period returns to normal unfortunately doesn't mean that your fertility does, so if you've been trying for more than a year at less than 35 years old you should seek medical assessment.
