Fertility testing?

Question

Wondering if anyone has reached out to their OBGYN and asked for any fertility testing without trying for a year? Maybe blood tests and an ultra sound of Fallopian tubes to see if they’re blocked as a potential cause for infertility? Or, have your partners sperm tested? 
🙄🙄🙄🙄 I don’t like waiting a whole year for something that maybe can be rectified sooner. Just not sure if OBGYN’s are responsive to this sort of testing? TIA!

You could say you’ve tried for over a year if you’re really concerned the ob will push back and not want to do testing.

I did at about 8 months of ttc, well I talked to my gp and she did a referral to my OB. She did all my hormone testing, checked for ovulation.. all normal.
checked my tubes for blockages.. again, normal.
my husband had to do a sperm analysis and his count came back low!!!
2 days after getting his results we got out BFP! so we never did anything beyond that.

Yes! we've been testing since 6 month mark, we've done all our prelim stuff and now at fertility specialist. I asked for the "insurance codes" from my obgyn for the HSG test to see if it would be covered if we hadn't been diagnosed with infertility and it was covered. So I would check with them !!

My insurance won’t pay anything that involves infertility, so I would start with the small things. Track and make sure you are ovulating. Get blood work and make sure your hormones are all good. Next get your husband checked. He may not like that (mine didn’t) :) and then start with the expensive tests like a simple ultrasound of your uterus and ovaries, and then check your Fallopian tubes. My husband and I have been trying for many years and I sadly have grown much knowledge in this department. Even my husband now knows more about the female anatomy better than some women! Haha Good Luck!

We actually are testing now and we at the 8 month mark! I had blood work yesterday and he went for analysis today. Next step if nothing is to check my Fallopian tubes and if nothing we will see the specialist.

We have been TTC for 1 year 3 months and had two miscarriages along the way. We waited till almost a year to test and I regret
not testing sooner because supplements and or treatment take time to work. You can lie to your OB and tell her you have been trying for a whole year. They wouldn’t ask or know anyway. Appointment times for follow up and additional testing such as HSG aren’t always open either so that can take added time. By the time you get all your results and come up with a game plan (such as supplements etc).. a year could easily pass by already so test asap. That’s my advice because you never know if you or the significant other might need treatment etc. Baby dust to you!

We got a referral for a fertility clinic just today, after 7 months. 
I have already had a pelvic ultrasound after having my implanon taken out, just to check that everything was normal when my period was delayed in returning, and everything looked fine. My period did eventually return after 6 months.
My doctor said that ordinarily she would wait for 12 months to refer for not conceiving, but we are in a unique situation. My husband has a hereditary disease that results in impeded mobility and chronic pain, and greatly impacts his day to day life. Trying to BD as much as possible just isn’t feasible for us so we have started to seek out other options.
That being said, if you have a doctor you trust I would just go and talk to them about your anxieties around falling pregnant. A good doctor would be happy to refer you if they thought that was the right thing. Best of luck! X
