2 week old preemie, my journey, birth story, and pictures

Jackie • First time mom of preemie Lillian Willow 4/7/18 33 weeker ❤❤❤

I want to thank you all for your support love and stories so far you're all so amazing ❤ I wanted to share my whole experience and birth story with you all so strap in, this'll be a long one.

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at around 26 weeks and put on medication that seemed to help, but not enough. She was measuring small 3rd-8th percentile from the 20 week scan on and I eventually was getting 2 scans a week to make sure she was growing and developing the way she should. At 30 weeks on the scan they estimated she weighed 2lb 14oz. Later on that week I had only felt her move 5 times during the day by 4pm so I called my doctor and she told me to go straight to the hospital. When I got there, nobody told my fiancé or myself what was going on and I was stuck in a labor room. When they finally got to taking my blood pressure it was 172/110 and then it was a flurry of activity. I was put on high dose magnesium, and given 4 emergency doses of a blood pressure medication, and they started me on steroids for baby's lungs. Eventually they got my blood pressure under control but kept me on magnesium for 48 hours and told me I was in the hospital until my little girl was born. Thus begun the longest 2 and a half weeks of my life. They had originally wanted to keep her in until 34 weeks but at a scan it showed she weighed 2lb 12oz, so they started doing daily ultrasounds until it showed her fluid levels dropping. They gave me the option of being induced first so they tried cervadil which she didn't tolerate, then low dose pitocin which just wasn't working, so they gave me the option of a c section. I'm terrified of needles and all other things medically invasive so it wasn't an easy choice but I did decide to go with that. They had told me I would labor for 1-5 days and it would most likely end in an emergency c section anyway and then my fiancé wouldn't be able to be there.

About an hour and a half after I told the doctor my decision, I had been given another rescue steroid shot and was lying on the table in the OR waiting for my baby girl to come. They pulled her out and man she was pissed. She started screaming and crying right away and I never thought I would love hearing someone so angry but I immediately started crying.

Lillian Willow was born April 7th at 33 weeks exactly weighing 2lb 13oz and 15 3/4 inches. She was diagnosed with IUGR because of my high blood pressure.

Since then she has come so far. In just two weeks she's off all medication, she just gets neosure added to her milk for extra calories, and some vitamins added as well. She's now 3lb 7oz, taking full bottles, and with lots of encouragement, even latching on to breastfeed! She is a rockstar and my superhero ❤ thank you much for reading I hope you enjoy her pictures, I'll start with the newborn ones working up to the most current 😊
