Which dog breed to get?

I am looking for a companion dog. I have anxiety. And I need a little buddy to keep me company at home.

My aunt had a toy poodle once and honestly it wasn't amazing. Toy poodles can be EXTREMELY small and fragile and actually a lot of them have anxiety with noises since they're usually so tiny. I wouldn't believe they would be ideal for you unless you got lucky. 
Personally, I would go with a dachshund. My neighbor has one and she is just the sweetest. If someone cries (total strangers even) she'll go up to them and try comforting them until they stop. She wasn't trained like that, either. It just happened. She's around 7 years old now and blind in one eye, but she's so sweet. I think that a dachshund would be super ideal for you!
Beagles are okay. The ones that I've been around seem to bark an awful lot at nothing, so that wouldn't be ideal. Plus, for some reason they will get a stench to them and baths only work for a few days before it's back. It's worse than a normal dog smell. They're super fun and nice dogs though! The barking and smell are the only two downsides that I see to a beagle. They're normally loving and playful and calm, so that would be very good for you. If you get a beagle, make sure it's been trained not to bark unless necessary!
I'd personally recommend a dachshund, though. Only because of my experiences with the breeds. But personally I think dogs that are larger are normally better. But your choice!

highly recommend a small pit puppy from your local shelter or petfinder.com. I am not a pit owner but every one of them I have met in public has been naturally loveable and good companions. often purbred dogs have high anxiety bc of backyard breeders not doing their homework or just trying to turn a profit

I’ve got a poodle cross (cocker spaniel/poodle). She's 13 now and still acts like a puppy and is the sweetest dog. Poodles and poodle crosses are used as therapy dogs a lot as well. My dad had ridgebacks, both very intelligent and sweet, like all dogs are. But, when my spoodle picked up a bird that fell from a tree she carried it over to me and didn't hurt it at all, when the ridgebacks caught a bird they killed it. I've never met a mean spoodle, they have a reputation of being good family dogs and gentle for a reason.

These are all great dogs but I would suggest getting a mixed breed that is say half poodle or half beagle, etc. These three breeds are very popular and in high demand so the breeding pool can be quite small in order to "keep it pure". Mixed breeds come with less of a chance of genetic illnesses and later complications that can shorten their lives and be super expensive/sad. Plus mixed breed dogs are so cute and great conversation starters which I found to be helpful in dealing with social anxiety because you're able to interact with people but the attention isn't on you, it's on your dog :) Here's my chihuahua/dachshund/rat terrier mix!

I have a French Bulldog and I swear they are the absolute best companions...honestly everyone I know that has one says the same thing. They have amazing personalities and are just lovers and want to please you. I also have anxiety as well as depression and my pup can tell immediately and comes to comfort me. It’s amazing how he just knows. It’s one thing if I’m crying or having a panic attack, but when I’m just not feeling right or even just having a bad day and really showing no signs, he still knows. I’d be lost without him.

I have a dachshund, but he is extremely aggressive as daschunds are one of the most aggressive breed types. However, he is very clingy and loyal to his person. He has bitten seven people for trying to touch anyone in our family. We've given the people a warning, but they never listen. He whines constantly when the family is not around, and he requires alot of attention and time. If you can give a daschund that, then they are great pets.
