Do not get the shot. The best alternative for the shot is the implant. 2 years and only had a positive experience. The women on this app convinced me to get it after all the positive things I heard. I also chose the implant because I'm terrible at taking pills. Every one is different though, talk with your doctor to see which is the best option for you.

Please speak with your doctor and do some research. Everyone's experience with birth control is different. I have the IUD and I personally love it. Choose one and try it. If you like it, good, if not, try a different one.

Everyone with the shot bullshit needs to stfu 😂😂😂 iv been on the shot for 6 years and I love it, EVERY birth control affects people differently. My best friend also uses it, she’s tried switching and went back to depo. If this is your first time getting birth control, I would try the pill since you can easily stop taking it if you have side effects, the implant and shot you can’t. I suppose you can have the implant taken out but I feel that’s too much of a hassle with the bruising and everything. Try the pill!

Go with the pill as long as you’re good at taking things every day on schedule. If you aren’t, try the shot. It is one shot (mine was in my upper butt cheek) every 90 days. It also stays in your system for a while when you get off it, so if you plan on TTC when you get off it don’t be surprised if it takes a while. That being said, the shot is A LOT of hormones, and I gained 90lbs over a year. However, it was the only thing that helped my mood, antidepressants didn’t help (I’ve tried a lot) but the shot did. 
If you don’t want to do the shot because it is the only birth control with a proven correlation to weight gain, then try the implant (I assume you mean the nexplanon). I’ve only heard horror stories and would never try it myself, but it works for some people. 
Personally i think the best birth control would be an IUD. They make so many different ones these days that you have a small variety to choose from. However, keep in mind that not every uterus is able to have an iud, especially if you haven’t had kids. My sister has a small uterus and often cramps really bad if she has gas or really has to poop because her bowels push against her uterus (according to her Dr), I have a tilted uterus, it is tilted at an extreme degree and no ob/gyn has been able to get the insertion stick into my uterus. Good news is that I only have to pay for the office visit on all three and not for the wasted iud’s, (around $2500 a pop) thanks to Obama 😜 
But, if your uterus isn’t suitable for an iud, then 90% of the time having a child can fix whatever problem is with your uterus, as with mine, because it will move with my pregnancy.

I've tried the shot and implant in my arm. I liked the shot better then the implant. for me on the shot I didn't gain weight, only had my period every 3 months and it was mostly spotting. a little mood swings but it wasn't bad at all for me, noe the implant I have my period for weeks straight, I mean weeks. bad mood swings, gained 30+ pounds in 2 years. now I'm on the nuvaring, I get the option of skipping my period when I want and haven't have any mood swings so far only 4 months into it. but so far I like it better than the implant and shot.

Please do not get the shot. There is absolutely no reason why you need that shit in your blood stream going throughout your entire body. I made the mistake of getting it in high school and my hormones were so out of wack it took forever for it to get straightened out again.

I’m on the implant and I love it. But it depends on how it works in your body like everyone reacts to hormones differently. For me the implant is amazing. I tend to regulate hormones very well. I’ve had spotting but I don’t mind sure what’s a tiny bit of blood? I’m currently on my first period after insertion and it’s very light and I’ve not had any noticeable mood changes or breast tenderness and my skin has been amazing. 
It all depends on how you can regulate hormones. Everyone’s different so different methods work for different people. The implant is good since it’s in your arm and is there for 3 years

IUD. The pill sucks and unless your religious (I mean AT 8pm on the dot every single day no slip ups) it’s easy to get pregnant on, I hate the thought of nexaplannon, and depo shots have been linked to infertility and tremendous weight gain. I’m on Mirena again and love it. Got my first at 16, removed and started TTC at 19, new one inserted after birth at 20.
