wondering if any mom's have dealt with not having maternity leave. I signed up for short term disability last year. so I am hoping that will help. Just wanting to hear how you did it. thanks ladies!!

I had to go back at three weeks and lost my job any way. So it was counter productive because I was a good employee did everything they asked and the let me go because I went with contractions because they asked me to then I left to have the baby took two weeks from one month and one from the other and they told me I didn’t make numbers. It was horrible for me and wasn’t even worth it. I do not recommend it at all but if like me you have to then no choice. I only had two weeks vacation paid.

Yea it’s really common in the US. Unless your company has a special program, there is no requirement for paid maternity leave unfortunately. Companies with 50 of more employees are required to honor your request to have up to 12 weeks off but they do not have to pay you. I use Aflac short term disability and vacation time. Then ill probably go a little without a paycheck so I can be home longer then the 6 weeks Aflac covers. Stinks!!

I really feel for those of you in the US that don't have maternity pay. I would not have a child if I had to go back to work so soon and how expensive medical bills are.

New York gives us 8 weeks pay currently and I have afflack. I feel like I wouldDo the eight weeks and the afflack and then hopefully husband would take his 8 weeks after me to have baby home a full 3-4 moe before daycare is needed
