I am scared. what do I do?

I am new to Florida. I saw the first cockroach in the kitchen today. I was headed down to get something to eat. it was HUGE. I stared at it and shock ....as if I had seen a alien. it looked at me. then! then.....it flew.!!!!!!.....I ran for my LIFE upstairs to the bedroom and stuffed a towel under the door to keep it from coming in the room. I told my fiance to go kill it. he just laughed . I can't go to the kitchen because roach is there. I am hungry. I guess I won't eat today. why the fuck are roaches as big as cats here? I don't know if I can do this FL thing. this thing is huge....I mean HUGE!
