Induction question

I’m currently 38w 2d, baby’s estimated weight is 7lb 3oz so normal size. My cervix is still closed. My husband works 15 hours away from home and will be driving in when it’s time to have her, then staying with us for a week before going back. My question is, is it bad for me to ask my doctor to consider an induction so I know my husband will be able to be here? He’s getting very emotional about the possibility he might not be able to make it for her birth. I know it’s best to let baby come on her own and I’m not looking for bashing comments about how I’m a horrible mom, just looking for general advice. So far my doctor hasn’t said anything about the possibility of an induction and I feel bad asking, but I’m trying to make the best decision for my whole family.
