what could I give my daughter that is 1 year old

for a runny nose and a little cough not many days of it just started like today.its been warm here in Vancouver Washington so I'm thinking maybe allgies. but I'm not sure. I have some zarbee cough n mucus medicine.

My son is one and when he has a cough and runny nose. We put the Zarbees minty rub on his chest, back and bottom of his feet, then baby powder to set it in( prevents the ointment from rubbing off to much on the clothes). Then put him in pjs and socks. We also use a cool mist humidifier with the Vick vapor packs. Place a small towel under his bed to keep him elevated slightly. So the mucus won’t sit in the back of his throat. Also we give him warm watered down apple juice to warm up his chest and loosen any  mucus that is in throat. We use the Nose Frida and the zarbees nasal mist sprayer. Also if I notice his nose just won’t stop running and he’s miserable. Our pediatrician recommended using Benadryl and it’s worked great but only as a last resort. So far that all I can think of. I personally never give meds for runny nose and cough unless it gets really really bad and baby is super uncomfortable  (18 mos and never happened yet). I just do humidifier and nose frida
