Opening eyes during kissing?

When my boyfriend and I are kissing, I sometimes will open my eyes and catch him opening his eyes but not looking at me; so if the tv is on and we're making out, I'll open my eyes to see if he has them closed and catch him watching tv!! I've told him why he opens them and he said, "I'm not a girl, I don't fantasize about kissing".... This statement kinda sounds like he's saying that kissing really isn't important to him. Why would he open his eyes though and pay attention to other things happening around us, does he not like kissing me?
