My transfer is Monday need to reschedule some clients what should I say?

I’m a self employed hair stylist and I work in a salon suite so I do my own appointments.  I need to reschedule some clients but I don’t know what to say.  I hardly ever cancel and I’m nervous they will be upset with me.  What excuse should I use?  I don’t want to tell them I’m doing IVF.

Just tell them you’ve had a last minute personal matter come up & you apologize for the inconvenience it may cause. I’ve never had a client get upset.

As a stylist myself going through this process moving appointments around has become a little easier lol. I went through my first transfer already and since they set a probable transfer in advance I prepared my clients saying I was taking some time off as a mini vacation which allowed with no suspicion taking the day of the transfer plus the couple days after to just relax and make sure  that little bean stuck! 
You case since it’s a little last minute thing you can just try to say your hubby surprised you with a getaway you couldn’t refuse nor change for a different date and blame it on him 😜 he didn’t tell you until last minute. Not necessary to give much details since it’s a surprise and you don’t really know..., but just think of a story when you comeback because you know those long term clients you are also their therapist at some point and the relationship has grown a lot closer enough to ask what was the trip all about!😅

If you're comfortable sharing a little I would say for a medical procedure. Also, not what you asked but something I deal with for work w handling schedule changes - offer to move them up OR push them back, if you can make it happen (ie I need to move your Mon @ 2 to Tues @ 1 OR I could do Fri @ 6 if thats better for you). Aside from that, good luck with the transfer!
