Membrane Stripping/Sweeping?

Question

Did your doctor offer or allow you have your membranes stripped before 40 weeks?  I’m currently 37+5 and want my doctor to strip my membranes next week at 38+4.  I’m measuring big (and have been the entire time) and 1 cm dilated,
50% effaced.  My sister says they won’t do it but I’ve heard and read lots of women get it done.

I have over 20 nieces and nephews between my 5 sister's and have noticed that if it is done too early it is not effective at all. After 39 weeks it usually has a high chance of starting labor. Have you started with primrose oil? I swear by that stuff...makes laboring so much smoother.

I had my membranes swept due to preeclampsia to prepare me I guess, and I don't know if it was my Dr or what but I will never allow that again.

Mine wouldn’t do it until 39 weeks. My son also measured big, but they wanted to let him cook. Second membrane sweep put me into labor and he was 9lbs 3oz at birth, 2 days overdue!

With my VBAC my OB stripped mine at 37+6 days. I was 3 cm and 70% and flipping miserable!!!! Had my little guy at 38 weeks.

I got it done at week 37. It didn’t do shit lol
