need advice...

I've been in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend for a year and a couple months now. We've met and spent time with each other in person multiple times, and I'll be moving closer to him in about a year or so. My only thing though is that he doesn't communicate very well with what's going on with him most the time. He's never really opened up to anyone before and I want him to be able to feel comfortable talking to me about that kinda stuff. I feel so terrible when I can't do anything to help him and he keeps to himself about it. He says he handles things himself and gets over things easily but even so idk... any advice?
