Question to new moms: work until the last min?

Hi all, 
I am a first time mom who is currently 38 weeks. Today my boss asked me when my last day is. I told him my due date. He said, “my wife worked until her water broke”. “I think it’s actually easier for you to keep working until the last day so you can keep your mind off things.”
To all the new moms, how realistic is his comment? I kind of think he is just being a dick but is there any truth to that? Did your employers expect you to work until the last moment?

Mine did, but mainly because for max maternal leave I had to. And to be honest he does have a partial point because working made my pregnancy fly by. Luckily my water broke at home at 2am so I had time to call in but it really depends on how you're feeling and if you're ok taking time out of maternity leave before baby gets here (if you have an allotted time). Also listen to your body! My pregnancy was honestly a breeze but you don't want to be so physically drained that you're worn down when baby decides it's time.

honestly id consult with your doctor on this. It should be your choice. My sister worked until her water broke, she was so unorganized and unprepared. my doctor took me out of work at 20weeks bc I was high risk. It was so relaxing. I had time to do things around the house and get everything ready for little one.

I was actually planning to work up until my water broke. Buttttttt my body & this little girl both had other plans for me 🤷🏽‍♀️

I worked until the week of my due date my first pregnancy, planning to do the same with this pregnancy!

I went on Mat leave at 34 weeks,  my job is really physical and by 33 weeks I was coming home in pain.  I enjoyed every day of mat leave. I went around to National parks and went hiking daily till labour day.

My first pregnancy, I worked the day of my induction, because I'm nuts, I was way past my due date. But if you're uncomfortable, work until YOU can, and if you get push back get a note from your doctor.

I am currently 28 weeks and Planning to go off work in seven weeks. I am a night shift worker and am on my feet for the majority of a twelve hour shift 🤓 Fair play if you can work right on up but I want to be able to have time before baby also to have a couple of ME weeks lol xo

I’m working until 38 weeks, currently 30 weeks. My boss said I can leave earlier if I want to, and that it’s completely my choice.

Another FTM here! I am a teacher, so we plan for a long term sub to cover my maternity leave. Planning for a sub SUCKS, so I plan on working up till my due date if all goes well so I don't have extra work for myself. If need be I'll do a last minute prepjust in case my little guy appears early. My admin is pretty understanding of all the on-the-feet time I have, so they'll be flexible if something has to change. I think that it's all about what is best for you and your nugget, but I would suggest working as long as you can and keeping busy ;)

I plan too, even though I'd love to leave now! Lol but I probably won't be coming back to work after the baby so I want to work up.until labor to save as much money as possible and also health insurance reasons! :) but if I had a paid maternity leave, I may have considered leaving a few days before due date just to rest and do final preparations.
