So I just got transferred to a new location for my job, but I'm under the same company. It's my first week here and everyone is polite and helpful, when I'm present. When they believe I'm not paying attention to them, they talk about me. They all keep saying how they wish their other manager was there. I literally replaced him. He and I are good friends so I understand anyone's attachment to him, but they don't know me and it's like they don't want to give me a shot. I don't understand why though. I mean, I'm clean, organized, efficient, respectful, appreciative, and I know how to do my job very well. I'm not saying I'm perfect, by no means, but I am all these things. Of course, they don't know that, but still.

Anyway, today they had a farewell party for him in the break room. Everyone that came brought food or drinks. I was invited to it, but only after the guest of honor had arrived.

Am I mistaken or was that simply an invitation out of pity? ...should I have stayed for the party?
