who massages there perineum?

I find it abit weird and can't bring myself  to do it .. I'm 37+1 .. just makes me cringe although I know it would be terrible to tear  😕

Most of what I read says it’s pointless. With my first, I massaged daily and ended up with a second degree tear anyway, so this time around, I’m not wasting my time.

I massaged with my firs. I tore and they cut me, so pointless. With my second I didn’t massage at all but I had a waterbirth. Not a single tear and I was up and showered within an hour ready to go home!

It was strongly recommended by my midwife, I did it nearly daily from 32 weeks I think. From what I heard, you have to do it rather regularly and for a long time... I didn't really enjoy it I must say, but in the end I got only small tears that healed super fast soooo...
I used massaging oil especially designed for that, from Weleda. 
I also used a special device (called EpiNo in Europe ??) after 35 weeks, a kind of inflatable balloon that you insert down there, inflate and get out. Gets you and your tissues used to what will happen. The combination of this + massage worked for me...

I think it's a good idea, but I'll just have to take my chances, especially considering I can't reach my perinium with enough range of motion to do more than keep it clean at this point...
