Will I change my mind at birth?

Question

All my life I’ve supported Breast feeding. I love that women can do such a thing. But now that I’m approaching delivery I just cant seem to get myself to want to do it. I am not against it I’d just prefer not to do it. Has anyone felt this way and then changed their mind at birth ?

You might change your mind after you try, you might not. You won't know if you don't try. If you try and still aren't comfortable with it, well that's okay too.

I Never want to breast feed and my 10 months old is perfectly fine and i don’t feel like she missed something i will do the same with my second due may 1st and you should not feel bad about it !!

I was always a supporter but wasn’t sure I’d be comfortable doing it myself. It just seemed so...strange. But, when my son was born I had committed to trying it and I’m glad I did! The first few times were a little surreal and different, of course, but it then felt so natural and we breastfed for a year. It was wonderful bonding and it was also so easy compared to mixing formula and having bottles cleaned, etc in the beginning. My son was a great nursling and gained weight like crazy and sleep through the night by 8 weeks. He also wasn’t sick basics his first year of life. Not going to lie that I was super thrilled when my year was up and we weaned, but I’m so happy I did it and will be doing it again with this baby.

I never wanted to breastfeed. It made me uncomfortable although I applaud the women who do it, it just wasn’t for me. My son is 14 months and is perfectly fine!

Your body, your choice. But have you maybe considered pumping. Might alleviate some of your feelings, yet still provide the health benefits to your baby (and you).

You can always try and then change your mind. It’s up to you. I breastfed my first and will be breastfeeding this one too. It worked well for us, saved us a ton of money, and is super convenient for our family. But it’s not super convenient for the Mom since you’ve got to feed every several hours, have to wear nursing bras, and unless you pump a lot, you are the sole supplier of food. Either way works- trust whatever decision you make!

I was one of those moms who was determined to breastfeed my first for at least a year.. once she was born I hated it! I tried pumping for about a month and then gave up. I’m really hoping to be successful at it this time, but if not I’m not going to be too hard on myself. Do whatever feels right for you and baby mama!!

I totally agree! I'd love to but I'm not sure if I can, both my mother and grandmother had bad problems with breastfeeding. On top of that I have tubular breasts so I have formula. I'd like to give him colostrum at least but past that is a big question mark.

I was 100% all in for breastfeeding my first.  It was so uncomfortable I gave up in 3 days.  She had a bad latch, was a lazy eater and had jaundice.  So I decided to pump.  I felt like that was the next best step for us.  We couldn’t afford formula so I tried very hard at pumping.  It was a lot of work but I’m considering it again.

I was so for breastfeeding with my first and I tried and tried for weeks and he wouldn’t latch he had awful acid reflux and was choking in his sleep... he wasn’t getting any food he was losing weight and I was miserable! My son literally slept 24/7 because he had no energy to be awake so I switched to formula had to try a few different ones until we got it right for his acid reflux and he became the happiest little man, and we finally got him on a great schedule. 
With this being my second baby and all that drama with breastfeeding I am finding it really hard to want to even try I think I will decide literally when I birth her!
