If you're just dating not in a relationship and not formed a bond yet then yes going on dates with different people is fine

This is just my opinion.. when you date one person you fully give them your attention and enjoy or dislike the relationship.. you know it's them that is or isn't making you happy.. and your not comparing them to anyone else.and if it doesn't work out you can just walk away after letting them know.. but if your involved with more than one person at a time.. let's say they are too..  you fall for one of them and the one you fall for has fallen for the other person he is dating.. then your heart is broken and you would either... drop the other guy or use him.. which wouldn't be fair. Or let's say your dating two guys and they are only dating you. What if they both fall for you... and then you fall for one of them.. when you could have just enjoyed your relationship now you must break it of with someone who loves you. 
Take time to know one person at a time.. give it a month and if you like them continue to talk.. to date but if you don't see it going very far go on to the next guy .l
