Ordering baby gear before shower

So I had an awesome coupon to use this weekend only for normally excluded items and I took full advantage. I ordered the crib, mattress, pack n play, stroller and car seat. A few of my friends said “why did you order that?! You should save that for your shower registry!” But I didn’t want to risk not getting them and then have to pay full price in a few months. Besides there will only be about 20-25 people at my shower and we are having it back home (out of state) and will have to transport it all back to our house. Was it wrong of me to order it myself? I felt scolded almost for buying my own baby stuff. I figured it’d be more appreciated to have only a couple pricey items instead of a bunch. I’m saving the breast pump, video baby monitor, rocker, crib bedding and high chair for the registry and I think that’s plenty of big ticket items for one registry. 🤷🏻‍♀️
