Is it just a man thing?

My 2 year old (3 next month) was born deaf. He gets a lot of attention with me as I stay home and I work with him on his speech. (He has cochlear implants) He literally is doing so amazing with his speech, and my husband has always given the credit to me (I don’t enforce this, he willingly does this) obviously because I’m the only one that works with my son apart from his speech therapist and auditory verbal therapist.

My husband works, so he’s home until 12, and comes home around 9 at night. Mind you he also sleeps until 10-11 unless we have morning appointments. Our son is always jumping on him on the weekends and anytime he’s home. It irritates my husband to the point he’s pushing him to the side and getting way too frustrated because he’s trying to do his own thing.

My point.. that I try to make all the time, is that he’s only doing it because he misses his daddy. He wants his daddy’s attention. Here are a few of my husbands arguments

“When I want his attention I don’t do that”

“Well I’m obviously doing something so he should back off”

“He sees me enough, sees me after work, he doesn’t go to bed until 12 sometimes”

“He doesn’t have to jump and climb all over me to get my attention”

Mind you, our son literally does it all the time when he’s around his daddy. But his daddy is too busy on his phone or playing a game.

It’s like he doesn’t get the freaking concept! It pisses me off all the damn time! Like if you just play with your child he won’t act like that! I mean literally.. like take 30 minutes to an hour of your busy day of gaming 🙄

🤦🏼‍♀️ is this a man thing? Or did I literally just marry a dick when it comes to being a daddy. Oh.. and I’m pregnant with our second. She’s due in July.. what’s he going to do when there are 2 kids doing the same 🤷🏼‍♀️🤔🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m thinking he will regret it later. He of all people should know what it’s like. He used to scream across a field for his dad who was busy with his other family versus loving him and giving him the attention he needed as a child.

I guess I just needed to rant 🤦🏼‍♀️
